Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is a country located in North Africa with many phosphate mines that are renowned for their preservation of Cretaceous age shark teeth and other fossils, including fossils of mosasaurs, cartilaginous fish, crinoids. Evidence of dinosaurs also comes from this country. In 1973, remains of the sail-backed theropod Spinosaurus were found in the Kem Kem Beds. The remains of crocodylomorphs, including the shallow-skulled Laganosuchus, other dinosaurs, such as Carcharodontosaurus and Kemkemia, and early turtles, like Hamadachelys, have also been discovered in these rocks. The evidence of Early and Middle Jurassic dinosaurs have also been discovered in Morocco. These include Atlasaurus from the High Atlas range and Berberosaurus and Tazoudasaurus from the same region.
