The Fossil Wiki is a wiki based on the study of paleontology and all its subfields, as well as fossils. the wikia was originally started by user Meghunter99 in early January of 2009.

Originally conceived of as a wikia solely about fossils and fossil collecting, the wiki has expanded to cover a wider range of paleontological concepts, ranging from ammonites to dinosaurs, from synapsids to crocodylomorphs. The wiki strives to be the premier source of information on all aspects of the prehistoric world and the fossils that were left behind. This includes information about the prehistoric world's oceans and geography, paleobiology, and fact files about the various species of plants and animals whose fossils have been found. The Fossil wiki was inspired by Wikipedia, but is able to expand on fossil information in greater detail and with more freedom than Wikipedia.
